SLO Youth Symphony

Let’s Make Some Music!

San Luis Obispo Symphony makes classical music exciting and accessible to everyone. Through the Youth Symphony, students get a chance to play, learn, and experience the joy of music in a setting that promotes discipline and teamwork. The Youth Symphony has four ensembles so that young musicians at different experience levels can take part.

Concert Orchestra

is the premier orchestra of our advanced string, wind, brass and percussion musicians

Academy String Orchestra

is our intermediate string ensemble.

Symphonic Winds

is our intermediate wind, brass and percussion ensemble.

Preparatory Strings

is our beginning string ensemble that lays the foundation for ensemble playing, teamwork skills, and orchestra etiquette.

Develop a Lifelong Love of Music!

San Luis Obispo Symphony Youth Symphony is a launching pad for a musical life!

Upon graduation, many Youth Symphony musicians are prepared to pursue other academic and professional avenues – including playing in the San Luis Obispo Symphony! Several of our orchestra members are Youth Symphony alumni.

Annual tuition is $650 which can be paid in 3 installments. All musicians are encouraged to audition, regardless of financial need, as scholarships are available on a need basis.
We offer discounts for siblings and for involvement with school band or orchestra music programs.
