Our return to the stage, in celebration of our 60th anniversary, will take place on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 7:30PM at the Performing Arts Center San Luis Obispo. In light of new guidelines from San Luis Obispo County Health Officials, we have modified our planned program, and are unfortunately no longer able to present Beethoven’s Sixth as previously scheduled. We know you will enjoy our new program, Maestro Andrew Sewell’s “Classics Reimagined – String Glory,” including Michael Daugherty’s Strut, Claude Debussy’s Danses, Marcel Grandjany’s Aria in Classical Style, Gustav Mahler’s sublime Adagietto from Symphony No. 5 for strings and harp with soloist and principal harpist Marcia Dickstein (Los Angeles), and Edvard Grieg’s Holberg Suite (suite in olden style). This hour-long program with no intermission is sponsored by Kathryn and Brendan McAdams, Minke WinklePrins, Jim and Beverly Smith, and Clifton Swanson Community Access to the PAC Fund.

Just in time for Veteran’s Day, SLO Symphony’s American Showcase, conducted by Maestro Andrew Sewell, features Co-Principal Bass Ken Hustad (Morro Bay). Repertoire in this upbeat program includes Siwe’s Duet for Snare Drum and Timpani, Benson’s Three Pieces for Percussion Quartet, Hovanhess’ Bacchanale, Montgomery’s Strum, Coleman’s Tzigane for Wind Quintet, Banfield’s Symphony No. 6, Four Songs for Five American Voices, Ellington/Strayhorn’s Nutcracker Suite, and a work by local composer Stefan Podell (Grover Beach) – Concerto for Double Bass. French virtuoso violinist Gilles Apap (Arroyo Grande) joins SLO Symphony under the baton of Maestro Andrew Sewell, for a remarkable program of classical favorites, including Brahms’ Serenade No. 1 in D, Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D, and Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 in G Minor. Gilles is known for his unique approach to music, delivering distinctive performances of the standard classical repertoire combined with genres such as jazz and folk from around the world, merging the borderlines between musical styles. This concert is sponsored by Peggy Lance Little, Thomas Miller and Pam Dassenko, and Len Jarrott. Programs are subject to change.

SLO Youth Symphony presents their final concert of the season. Tickets are just $5-10.
