The San Luis Obispo Youth Symphony is committed to providing its services to all musicians, regardless of financial standing. Scholarships are provided to families who need financial assistance. In order to be fair to all families, the following policies have been developed for granting scholarships:
Families MUST turn in the completed scholarship application by September 28th, 2015 in order to be considered for financial aid.
A $50 commitment fee is required at the time scholarship applications are submitted. Your application will not be reviewed if you don't submit the commitment fee with the applicaiton. The $50 commitment fee will be deducted from your tuition balance.
A federal tax return is no longer required to apply for a scholarship
The scholarship commitee will review all applications, and a scholarship amount will be determined based on individual needs.
Families receiving scholarships are expected to be available to volunteer beyond the required 3 hours.
Scholarships may be revoked if a student does not follow the "Student Agreement" which is required to be signed at the time of registration.
Families with more than one student participating in the Youth Symphony are automatically given a $50 discount per student.
School Music Program Discount
If your child participates in his/her school music program in any way, they are eligible for a $50 credit toward Youth Symphony tuition. This can include participating in band, choir, guitar, piano, etc. In order to receive the discount a student must write a short note to the Youth Symphony stating what program they are involved in and have it signed by their music instructor.
The $50 discount will not be deducted from tuition without the signature of their school music instructor.
Private lessons do not apply.
