It takes a lot of work to run the Symphony! We rely on volunteers to help us with concerts, music education programs, special events and more. Our volunteer needs fluctuate throughout the year, and new opportunities pop up all the time. Who Can Volunteer?

Anyone who loves music, the performing arts, or who just wants to get more involved in the community is welcome! Our volunteers have a wide range of skills and experience – the only requirement is a good attitude!

What Do Your Volunteers Do?

SLO Symphony has many volunteer opportunities throughout the year. We may need help backstage at a concert, with setting up and clearing away the Instrument Petting Zoo at a local festival, or stuffing envelopes for a fundraising campaign. By filling out this form, you will be added to our roster of volunteers to contact first whenever an opportunity comes along.

Will I Need to Have a Background Check?

Certain volunteer opportunities, especially those that work with children, may require a background check, including references. For some positions we may also need to verify some personal information, such as a valid driver’s license. We will let you know if we need any additional information before you start volunteering.

Do You Accept Large Volunteer Groups?

We rarely need more than a few volunteers for any given project. However, if you belong to an organization, school or church group with multiple volunteers and would like us to contact you for opportunities, please call the Symphony office at 805-543-3533.

Can You Guarantee a Certain Number of Volunteer Hours?

Generally, no. Depending on our needs and the type of work involved, we may need volunteers for as little as a couple of hours or for a regular commitment over the course of several months. If you have a specific volunteer requirement, such as for a school program, please indicate in the comments section of the form and we will get in touch for more details.
