Preparatory Strings

Preparatory Strings is a string ensemble that performs classical, popular and folk music. Preparatory Strings musicians must be able to read and count simple rhythms and play in a steady tempo. Listening and ensemble skills are stressed, providing a sound foundation for future playing. Tuition is not refundable.

Meet the Conductor
Grace Seng began playing the violin at age 3 and joined the Seattle Youth Symphony in 5th grade. She moved to SLO in 2003 and performs with the San Luis Obispo Symphony, Festival Mozaic Orchestra, and Mariposa String Quartet. Grace graduated summa cum laude from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance and from the Manhattan School of Music with a Master of Music in Violin Performance. She has been a member of the San Luis Obispo Symphony violin section since 2003 and has worked with the SLO Youth Symphony since 2017. Grace has been the SLO Symphony Music Education Manager since 2022.
