Academy String Orchestra

Academy String Orchestra is an intermediate ensemble that plays music from Baroque through Modern periods. For outstanding musicians, solo opportunities are available for performances.

Students participating in Academy String Orchestra must have ensemble experience, musical style, and expression, along with experience in vibrato, shifting, and playing in various positions.

Meet the Conductor
Grace Seng began playing the violin at age 3 and joined the Seattle Youth Symphony in 5th grade. She moved to SLO in 2003 and performs with the San Luis Obispo Symphony, Festival Mozaic Orchestra, and Mariposa String Quartet. Grace graduated summa cum laude from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance and from the Manhattan School of Music with a Master of Music in Violin Performance. She has been a member of the San Luis Obispo Symphony since 2003, and has worked with the SLO Youth Symphony since 2017.

YS Winter Concert

Youth Symphony Winter Concert will be taking place on Monday, December 9, 2019 at New Life Community Church in Pismo Beach. The concert begins at 6 PM and doors open at 5:30 PM. Tickets are now available for purchase.

Academy Pops!

Academy String Orchestra will be having a pops concert on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Community Baptist Church starting at 6:00 PM. The theme of the concert is “Heroes”, featuring music from Star Wars, Star Trek, Olympic Spirit, and more! Join us for an evening of great music.
