Your SLO Symphony Like You've Never Seen It Before

Experience Your Symphony in a New Way

Our top priority is the health and safety of our patrons, musicians, and staff. This season, we are committed to providing fun, exciting performances that allow for safe social distancing.

Choose the concert experience that is right for you! Our Drive-In Series lets you watch new SLO Symphony performances on the big screen, from the comfort of your own vehicle. Our Virtual Series lets you stream this season’s concerts from home on your internet-connected TV, computer or handheld devices, whenever you like.

Every concert for the 2020-21 season will be available in both the drive-in and virtual series. When you purchase a season subscription for either series you’ll enjoy benefits including discounts, priority access, and more.

Drive-In Series

Watch the orchestra perform on the big screen! Cozy up in your car for a romantic, nostalgic, fun way to enjoy a night at the Symphony! Tune in through your car radio to our low-power FM station, so you control the volume. All drive-in concerts this season will be held at Madonna Meadows (next door to the Madonna Inn).

Tickets will be sold per car and start at just $30, so you can bring your whole household for one low price!

Virtual Series

Watch every concert at home! You will be able to access concerts any time after they’ve aired, so you can hold encore performances of your favorite music anytime you like. You can even stream directly on your TV through internet-connected apps on Roku or Amazon Fire.

Each concert will be available to purchase a few days before it airs, or you can pre-order the full series now and get automatic access when each concert is released!

2020-21 Concert Schedule

We’re making a few changes to our season programming to accommodate a smaller orchestra, so our musicians can record each concert while practicing safe social distance. Program details will be updated a few weeks prior to each concert.

Drive-In Series FAQ

Questions about drive-in concerts? Please read below. If you need additional help, please reach out to us at info@slosymphony.org.

Where will the drive-in concerts be held?

All concerts for the 2020-21 Drive-In Series will be held at Madonna Meadows, adjacent to the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo.

What time will drive-in concerts begin?

Drive-in concerts will begin at 7:30pm, and gates will open at 6:30pm. Be sure to arrive early to get a good parking spot!

How will I get my drive-in pass?

2020-21 season subscribers will receive a single pass in the mail that will permit them into all drive-in concerts this season. In order to maintain safe social distancing with check-in staff, drive-in passes should be hung on your car’s rearview mirror prior to your arrival at the venue. If your pass is damaged and needs to be replaced, please call 805-548-1585.

Single ticket buyers will be emailed a print-at-home pass with their ticket confirmation. We ask that you print your pass and display on your dashboard when you arrive; however, if you are unable to print at home, you may show the mobile version of your pass at check-in.

What will the drive-in concerts look and sound like?

All drive-in concerts will be pre-recorded and projected onto large screens at the venue. Every concert will last around an hour. When possible, in accordance with COVID-19 gathering restrictions, concerts will feature the full orchestra performing together in a single venue. At times, we may be required to use alternate content such as chamber music, solos, or footage from previous SLO Symphony seasons.

Audio will be transmitted by low-frequency FM. You will be able to tune in through your car radio, or use another personal sound system that works for you (such as using your smartphone as an FM receiver with portable Bluetooth speakers). If you do use your car radio, note that you will not be allowed to leave your engine idling throughout the concert and will be using your car battery. This is standard protocol at drive-in theaters, and should not drain your battery unless it is already in need of replacement.

We understand that pre-recorded concert videos are not the same as a live performance. We appreciate your support as we create music the best way we can during these extraordinary circumstances. We very much look forward to the day when we can gather with all of you at the performance hall again!

What amenities are available at the drive-in venue?

There will be portable restrooms available for your use. We are working with local food and beverage vendors, and as COVID-19 restrictions permit we may be able to provide concessions.

Will tailgating be permitted?

At this time, tailgating will not be permitted at the drive-in concerts. In accordance with current social distancing guidelines, we ask that all guests remain inside their vehicle for the duration of the concert. If concessions or other amenities become available at any point in the season, guests may be required to wear masks.

I'm a Drive-In subscriber. If I change my mind, can I switch to virtual concerts?

Absolutely! Things are changing rapidly and frequently these days, and we understand if your circumstances change. If you want to exchange for a virtual pass, please let us know as soon as possible. Contact 805-548-1586 to process your exchange.
